Ukraine and Denmark will deepen bilateral trade cooperation

The current state of bilateral cooperation between Ukraine and Denmark, the conditions of export-import operations and promising areas of the partnership were discussed during a meeting by Head of the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection Vladyslava Magaletska and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Denmark Ole Egberg Mikkelsen.

«I greatly appreciate for the fruitful cooperation between our countries thanks to our partners from the Kingdom of Denmark. I am confident that we will be able to deepen our cooperation on mutually beneficial terms for business and consumers of both countries,» said Vladyslava Magaletska.

As of today, 377 Ukrainian companies producing meat and meat products, eggs and egg products, honey, collagen and others have the right to export their products to the territory of the European Union (including Denmark).

Instead, fresh pork, meat products, cattle, pet food, processed animal feed for fish and other products are supplied to Ukraine from Denmark. Fishery products are one of the key items of Danish exports to Ukraine and re-exports of Ukraine to the EU (including Denmark). Thus, exports of fish and fish products from Denmark to Ukraine in 2020 amounted to about EUR 23 million and re-exports to Denmark – EUR 7 million.

The participants of the meeting discussed the issues of new import requirements for access to the Ukrainian market of food products, in particular, fish and fish products from Denmark, as well as the issue of import of breeding pigs to the territory of Ukraine. The parties agreed on close communication and prompt elaboration of issues related to the implementation of export-import operations.

It should be noted that the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection plays an important role in the efficiency of Ukrainian exports. Its objective is to overcome technical barriers to trade and provide state guarantees for compliance with the requirements of partner countries.
