Following a joint meeting in Kyiv, the Governments of Ukraine and Romania signed a Joint Statement on deepening cooperation in various fields. This was announced by Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal during a briefing with Prime Minister of Romania Marcel Ciolacu.

The Head of Ukrainian Government said that the joint statement declared cooperation between the two countries in both economic and humanitarian spheres. In particular, in the field of logistics and the development of border infrastructure.

“In the joint statement we have just signed, we have agreed to increase the transit potential for the export of Ukrainian agricultural products by making full use of the EU Solidarity Lanes,” said Denys Shmyhal.

The document also states that the countries have agreed to launch a pilot project on joint border and customs control at crossing points on the common border.

Other strategic focus areas include agriculture and energy. Denys Shmyhal thanked Romania for its assistance in the energy sector and noted that Ukraine was counting on further support. Ukraine is interested in developing its export and import capabilities with the European energy area.
