The food industry is one of the leading structure-forming industries not only of the agro-industrial and industrial complexes, but of the entire national economy of Ukraine. By the number of employed and by the volume of gross production, the food industry is one of the most important industries in most countries of the world, and in Ukraine in particular.

The food industry has a complex structure. It includes more than 20 industries producing both finished goods and semi-finished products. The leading branches of the food industry of Ukraine are sugar, meat, dairy, oil and fat, canned fruits, confectionery, alcohol, wine, salt.
