Ukraine at BIOFACH 2024

BIOFACH is an annual international and the largest trade fair in Europe for organic products and beverages, which takes place in Nuremberg, Germany. The trade fair will take place on 13-16 February 2024 at the NürnbergMesse exhibition centre.

This year, 38 Ukrainian companies are participating in the event.

During the trade fair the exhibiting companies will have the opportunity to present their own organic value-added products to the foreign visitors and discuss the latest developments and trends in the organic sector with international colleagues.

Presentation of Ukraine within the Congress

On February 14, 2024, at 1:00 PM (Shanghai Hall), a congress will be held, which this year will take place under the slogan "Food of the Future: Women's Impact on Sustainable Food Systems" and will be dedicated to the transformative power of women in the agri-food sector and their role in creating a sustainable future for the organic food system.

    Introduction, welcome words from the organisers and partners of the Ukrainian Pavilions. Representatives of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine and the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (Ukrainian Parliament), State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection, organisers and partners of the National Pavilion, organic sector associations, Ukrainian organic exporters and other stakeholders will take part in the event.
  • 11:45-13:00 Latest facts, figures, and prospects of organic agriculture in Central and Eastern Europe.

    Markiyan Dmytrasevych, Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, will provide updated information on the current state of the organic sector in Ukraine and the export opportunities for Ukrainian organic producers to the international community in times of war.
  • 12:00-13:00 Good practices for official investigations in case of presence of pesticide residues.

    Sergiy Galashevskyy, Director of Organic Standard certification body, will share the Ukrainian experience. EU Regulation No. 2018/848 on organic production and labelling of organic products has been in force for two years, and new rules for handling organic products in case of detection of pesticide residues are applied.
  • 17:15-18:00 Empowering Change: Women Leading Transformation in Central East Europe’s Organic Sector.

    Women are a driving force behind positive change in the organic sector in the CEE region. During the session, participants will share stories of success and positive change in the organic sector in Albania, Serbia, and Ukraine. Kateryna Shor, National Coordinator of the Program “Organic Trade for Development in Eastern Europe” (OT4D) and coordinator of OrganicInfo.ua, will speak about the achievements, problems, and opportunities for the Ukrainian organic sector.

    Women leaders of the Ukrainian organic sector from business, industry and NGOs, policy and multi-stakeholder platforms will present insights on achievements and challenges confronting the organic sector in Ukraine under the current conditions of war. The key topics of short inputs are innovations, higher added value products, legal issues and networking to create strong stakeholder platforms.
