Catalogue of Ukrainian organic exporters
Despite the full-scale war, Ukrainian organic producers continued operating and even launched new value-added organic products in 2022. These included fruit rolls, different types of instant porridge and cream soups, nectarine juice, essential oils, etc.
According to the survey, 92% of organic producers claimed they will continue organic production with needed resources in place (as of July 2022). 91% of organic operators continue organic production and processing fully or partially, or their production and processing were resumed or planned to during the full-scale war. Over the last years, Ukraine has significantly strengthened its position as an exporting country of organic products and became an important supplier of organic products to the foreign markets. Despite the full-scale invasion, Ukraine exported 15.3% more organic products in 2022 than in 2021 to European countries (EU, Norway, Switzerland). Ukraine exported more than 65 types of products in 2022. In total, it amounted to 245.6 thousand tons what corresponds to 219.4 million US dollars. There are 144 companies exporting organic products in Ukraine. 225 importers from 36 countries of the world import Ukrainian organic products. Ukraine is among the TOP-3 countries exporting organic products to the EU countries in 2022.
With the aim to promote Ukrainian organic exporters, the State Institution «Entrepreneurship and Export Promotion Office» (EEPO, Ukraine) within the framework of the state project Diia.Business in partnership with the Organic Standard certification body, and supported by Switzerland within the framework of the Swiss-Ukrainian Programs «Higher Value Added Trade from the Organic and Dairy Sector in Ukraine» (QFTP) and «Organic Trade 4 Development in Eastern Europe» (OT4D) elaborated the Catalogue of the Ukrainian organic exporters.
