UNDP Ukraine, with the support of the Government of Japan to invite companies to join Business and Human Rights Academy Ukraine

UNDP Ukraine, with the support of the Government of Japan is delighted to invite companies to join Business and Human Rights Academy Ukraine.

The Academy offers cost-free training and individual guidance sessions from UNDP experts on human rights due diligence specifically tailored for Japanese-Ukrainian joint ventures; Ukrainian supplier and partners of Japanese companies; Ukrainian companies operating at the international level.

Training agenda is based on the results of a context assessment of the human rights risks companies face in Ukraine in times of war and consists of three online sessions.

During these sessions business will learn about how to apply business and human rights standards in their operations and supply chains, namely:

  • Basic standards on business and human rights and responsible business conduct: UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, relevant EU standards, OECD Recommendations, etc.;
  • Guidelines for Respecting Human Rights in Responsible Supply Chains in Japan, Japan's National Action Plan on Business and Human Rights;
  • Human rights due diligence step-by-step, namely: how to identify and assess the impact on human rights, integrate human rights into operational activities; track the progress and communicate about implemented measures, etc.;
  • Strategies for action in conditions of war or conflict and in particular the heightened Human Rights Due Diligence procedure (hHRDD); "responsible exit" and other options in crisis situations.

Following the training, more detailed one-to-one guidance sessions with individual companies will be made available. In these closed-door interactive sessions, companies will receive guidance from a group of national and international experts on how to manage their impacts on human rights in the specific contexts in which they operate.

Participation options:

  • online on January 23, 25, 27, 2023 (3 training days, 5 pm – 7pm (Kyiv), duration of each training day - 2 - 2.5 hours);
  • offline participation in Kyiv (2 training days, February 2023), date and place to be specified and will be sent after registration.

B+HR Academy would be useful for staff most likely to have an impact on their human rights practices. This should include senior management, representatives from departments such as supply chain, human resources, human rights, sustainability, corporate social responsibility, risk management, compliance, DEI, legal issues, or procurement.
