Analysis of the Ukrainian organic sector 8 months after the start of the full-scale war in Ukraine

According to the results of 2021, Ukraine exported 261,000 tons of organic products with $222 million worth.

The largest exports to foreign markets were the following organic products:

  • Corn — 80,000 tons worth $22 million.
  • Soy - 65,000 tons worth $59 million.
  • Wheat - 29,000 tons worth $14.3 million.

The top 10 exported organic products also include: sunflower cake, rapeseed, sunflower oil, frozen blueberries, sunflower, millet, frozen elderberry. And EU countries became the largest buyer of Ukrainian organic products in 2021, importing 189,2 thousand tons of products with $160 million worth.

In the first 8 months of 2022, 147,000 tons of organic products were exported to the EU for $116 million, and 11,000 tons were exported to Switzerland for $5 million.

According to the results of these 8 months of 2022, Ukraine managed to export more organic products than during the same period of 2021. In 2022, experts predict that the total volume of exports of organic products and their value will be higher than in 2021.

These indicators demonstrate to the international community that Ukraine has stability not only on the battlefield, but also in the organic sector in particular. Manufacturers continue their production and trade and are determined only to win and help the country. Ukrainian exporters, in their turn, also fulfill their contractual obligations.
