Grain Initiative: the first million tons of Ukrainian food was exported

Since August 1, when the first ship was sent through the ‘grain corridor’, 1 million tons of agricultural products have already been exported from the unblocked Ukrainian ports of Odesa, Chornomorsk and Pivdenny.

During this period, 44 ships left the 3 ports with the destinations being 15 countries of the world.

"In less than a month, the first million tons of Ukrainian food as part of the Grain Initiative was sent for export. For comparison, almost the same amount of agricultural products was exported by road transport in the period since March of this year. I would like to note that in order to export last year's and this year's harvest, we need to transship at least 3 million tons per month from the three ports of Great Odesa. I am grateful to our partners from the UN and Turkey for their cooperation. I hope that together we will not only maintain the existing dynamics, but also significantly increase the volume of transshipment," commented Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Oleksandr Kubrakov.

As a reminder, on July 22 in Istanbul, at the offer of the United Nations, Ukraine, Turkey and UN Secretary-General António Guterres signed the Initiative on the safe transportation of grain and food products from the Ukrainian ports of Odesa, Chornomorsk and Pivdenny.
