Ukraine and Moldova canceled permits for international cargo transportation

On September 1, Ukrainian carriers will be able to travel to the Republic of Moldova under new simplified rules.

After the signing of the ‘transport visa waiver’ with the countries of the European Union, Moldova remained the only state we border on with which the permit regime for Ukrainian carriers was not completely canceled. Given the large volume of cargo that is currently moving towards Moldova, the signing of the bilateral protocol will remove the risk of cessation of our exports.

The permit regime will be preserved for non-regular passenger transportation (next year, the parties will exchange 2,200 permits) and for transportation to or from third countries (Ukraine will receive 10,000 permits for 2023).

"The bilateral cancellation of permits for international cargo transportation, the opening a few days ago of the Berezine - Basarabeaska railway section, which had not worked for more than 20 years, are excellent examples of cooperation in the transport sector, strengthening cooperation between Ukraine and Moldova.

Now our task is to make the most of new opportunities to boost the economies of our countries in the face of threats posed by russian military aggression and russian policy in general," said Oleksandr Kubrakov, Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine.
